Grapes and Gouda

Serving a light appetizer like grapes and Gouda cheese instead of something heavy like bread and cheese, when you are serving an big meal will be appreciated by all. The simplicity in flavor will delight and satisfy everyone and they can enjoy their meal without feeling too full before dinner is served.

Ingredients

Green grapes

A block of aged Gouda

Toothpicks

Instructions

Cut the gouda in small cubes and assemble on toothpicks with the grapes.
Aged Gouda has a rich flavor, but it can crumble easily. So go slowly when placing on the toothpick to prevent it from falling apart.

Notes

These apéritif ideas are also great for everyday and to serve to children while you’re getting dinner ready. Serve them a few grapes and Gouda, as an apéritif as the start to a healthy meal.

Many of the recipes I share have guidelines rather than exact measurements, since I often cook "au pif" as we say in France, meaning by feel.  It is possible to pull together great meals quickly without relying on recipes when you cook by feel, or Kitchen Intuition as I call it.  You can write to me anytime if you have questions.
