Healthy Appetizer Idea for Parties and a Snack for Kids

A few simple appetizers can spark the appetite, but too many heavy ones spoil it and lead to overeating before dinner is served. Try this fresh idea with strawberries and basil during the season.

Combining light and heavier appetizers and a small quantity of each creates the perfect offering. Such as strawberries and basil, one homemade dip like an olive tapenade, and slices of dried sausage. Just a few nibbles for everyone to enjoy. A small appetizer is less work, less cost, and fewer calories. Plus, it allows more room to appreciate the main meal.

Wash, core, and slice the strawberries

Fold a leaf of fresh basil around each strawberry slice, then secure with a toothpick.


This is also a flavorful and healthy snack for kids and an easy family dessert.
